Free Ads on eBay?

Hi all,

Following on from my last posting about Martin and his ebook, I've just found out that his ebook was about plumbing and electrical wiring.

His book explains in easy steps how to go about doing your own plumbing jobs around the home. It covers everything from fitting a new bathroom suite to installing an outside tap.

The electrical wiring section covers everything about rewiring your complete house including, adding more sockets and light fittings and even extending the electrical supply into the garden.

Now, listen up guys because there are certain things you can advertise for free on... eBay.

Martin's book is one of them! And there could be thousands of other products out there that also quailfy including... Business Opportunities.

Here's how you get a free ad on eBay...

Obviously you need to have an eBay account so if you don't yet have one go and open one.

Then, go into your account and select Sell>Sell an item.

Put in your 3-5 word description and then on the next page look at the category list.

Browse categories and select Local Services.

You will then be presented with a whole list of sub categories that you can advertise in for FREE.

Once you've selected your final category, click on the Continue button.

Now you can put in the information about your listing. The title is very important so make sure it is relevant to your product or service, and contains those all-important keywords i.e., plumbing.

You can add one photo for free and if you don't add anything else your whole ad will be free. Of course you can spruce it up if you want to by adding a background, sub title, emboldened title etc, etc.

Now, for those with no experience of html you can just type in your sales letter/pitch and place a link direct to your blog or website.

If you know how to use a WYSIWYG html editor like MS Frontpage for example and you can host images on a web server, then knock yourself out!

Create your listing as a web page then cut and paste the html directly into the eBay html section of your listing.

Remember to cut and paste only the section between the body tags.
Now, the important points to remember here are...

The ad is free and will be displayed for 28 days.

You can have a link to your blog or website so long as there is further information about the product or service you are promoting.

You can also have a link to an email client like a contact form.

You can use some javascript, but check what is allowed.

You can place unlimited images on your posting, if you use html and host the images elsewhere.

These classified ads come under the category of Local Services so if you want to promote to a wider audience, just say in your description that you also provide your products/services nationally or internationally.

As with everything else about ebay, play by the rules. Be upfront and honest in your description and try to build credibility by including some information about yourself.

Here are a couple of examples of what you can do...

Okay... now go get busy!

And... if you didn't already know about this then don't forget you found out about it right here.

Till next time,

Regards,
Bill
